Snippits from a conversation with Bal just now.
I mean every word, I want to get us back to how we were.
We were a community, not a group.
The idea of the forum was to connect us all, not as a concrete form of a proof saying we need to do things. Just that we CAN do things.
We're having a charity stream, and everyone wants to help out...THAT'S what a community does. Why couldn't we do that before?
We need to actually work together and figure out what's wrong. Not start pointing fingers and sit back to watch.
If you don't like something with the forum...tell me what it is and how to fix it, don't say "I don't like it".
If you don't like how no-one's doing anything...then start something. Organize an LP with someone on the forum, start a stream or a Game Night.
If you don't like how things are being run, or think you can help...speak up.
Stop staying back and watching. That's how this whole thing came crashing down beforehand.
I'm taking advantage of people coming back to the forum to post this so people can read it.
Let's get everything back. I can't do it on my own.

Posting to help out here. First I like to say that was the most confusing, interesting and the most progressive and agreeing conversation I ever had with Brett all in one. Now GU needs to be remade/restarted/rebirth whatever you wanna call it (yes I do know they all pretty much mean near enough the same thing). And as Brett said he can't do it alone. Or just rely on one person like chiral. EVERYONE needs to help out. Not just one, two or three people. I know no one has to do anything here and such. But from what I remember when something does get organised people rarely go and do said thing (unless brett was the one actually organising it). Im not the only one to say this I said this to others and they agreed with me. Example: Podcasts. I organised a podcast for something like every friday at a certain time which lots of people agreed to. But when friday came I went on TS and either no one was there or you were all doing something already (playing minecraft etc). What was the point of agreeing to do something if you weren't going to go do it? Or at least bring up saying why you were not going to be there to do it. So the main issue I think whats wrong here is pretty much in a way the community itself. I seen newcomers come and they pretty much felt like they were not wanted and were ignored when they attempted to start something. So they leave and the community lost a few members. I even blame myself into this as well as I ignored one or two people I didn't like much. Basically the community is open to everyone so why treat some people like they not part of it? Welcome them into it and they more likely get along with everyone else better. Also don't just keep insulting the others here (yes I know we all kidding here but newcomers may not see that and some others may get tired of it eventually). Also going back to the earlier thing of no one needs to do anything. This is true but you all most of the time just sit around doing nothing being bored until Brett or Chiral thinks of an idea and then you all jump on it saying we should do it. Its not just about waiting for them two to do something. Now I know a few others have organised a few things a bit more later on (Roxxie organising the AC stream, Kay & Emily doing that minecraft thing on the GU channel which hasn't been updated since about a month just figure i point that out). Im not sure how everyone still reacts around here and such now but im more or less talking about when the TS channel was still here and I was around. Im just listing the problems from back then so don't come complaining and so. We need to all work this out together (brett even said he honestly needs my help). Also it always seems to be the same people in things and rarely never someone else (rather the others are too busy or something I have no idea but I figure I bring it up anyway). Anyway thats all I can think of for now. I apologise to anyone that got offended if I just blamed them. But im mainly listing what I honestly think is/was the issue. And we all do need to work out how to solve this and improve ourselves. Once we done all this we can work together to make the forum a good looking forum  Hope this post helps. |

What Bal and Brett have said is totally correct. I agree that we all need to pull together on this one and make it happen. The cause of this doesn't really matter to me anymore the main concern is getting this community back together. When I left and said the things I did some of you did generally get angry, I apologize for saying those things and I hope that we can rebuild. I'm willing to do whatever it takes for the GU to become what we intended it to.
I don't really think I can say much that hasn't already been said apart from taking action rather than doing nothing. I seem to recall Brett actually asking for help from Bal. A few months ago that would've been a joke, though right now that's a serious question. Even though I left GU I always did miss the GU in someways... like the Server City I had, the original Stream Marathon, the Team Minecraft stuff... This is just me rambling about stuff that has already been said but honestly we can do this, and I hope we will do this if everyone is willing to.

I agree with whats been said so far, I think some of us got it stuck into our heads we were a group and confused it with being a community.
(This includes me in some ways)
I miss the gaming nights and playing minecraft, building stuff with you guys while on ts was a hoot.

I have no excuse. LUVUGUIZLETSHAVEFUN. <3 I think the charity livestream will be a good chance for us to get new people and basically just saying "HEY WE'RE GU, COME CHAT." not "HEY WE'RE GU, COME LP WITH US." Cause, a lot of people find lping/talking(speech) over the internet hard, and just throwing out the word LPing makes them nervous (;D....) |
