Nah, I have to make a scaled model of an HHO (Hydrogen/Hydroxy) Generator.
And Pulp, the way I see it...this is a forum. Not a chatroom. The Shoutbox was essentially being used as a chatbox...and the actual forum part was being neglected. Just about everything being said could have been said on Steam, MSN, Skype, etc etc.
Also, polls aren't always necessary if it's just a good idea.

I'll be blunt, Brett. Consulting only one person and not letting anyone else have a say in the Shoutbox matter was not very community minded. All someone would have to do is go into Random Discussion, make a topic called "Shoutbox", and go from there in a much less convenient way to chat. The forums other than Random Discussion were practically dead before the Shoutbox came anyway. Like the marathon and the channel, it shows how weak the community is. I'll never forget the war over Nathan's slot when Mage began to take over and Nathan flat out kicked his stream to Hell before he started actually playing the game. The marathon was an organizational mess half the time.

18) This was originally intended to be an LP forum. Why can't I see any LP threads? Okay, that was partly Brett and I's fault with all the new "fan page" shenanigans, so I can understand if people don't know where to post. I didn't understand at the time... Furthermore, I understand most of the LPers can't be bothered to make threads for most of their LPs, but all I'm saying is that was what the forum was for. ...and of course having semi-regularly updated LP threads can not only bring in people to the forum but also let us provide bonus content for our community... But enough of that.
19) So why, then, are all these LP threads missing? Well, the main reason is probably laziness, to be brutally honest, but let's ignore that for a moment. I hear you all talking about streams, and stream schedules, but you haven't even mentioned anything from the last point... I've heard it said before that streams are the death of LP, please, oh please don't prove them right.
20) Having said that, we do need a timetable/schedule for the streams. Like, a stickied thread where the original post lists all the times and dates and is updated weekly or bi-weekly. Anyone can post "I wanna stream at X" and the next time a mod sees it (and if the time is available) they can add you. It would be first come first served, and would be a quick and easy way for anyone to check, rather than having a crapload of separate threads. (Of course, if you'd like to make one separate thread to advertise you can... after you get permission)
21) I'm all for having contests and such. But we certainly aren't rich. We don't have much money, and so having things like games as prizes just is not sustainable. However, should we really offer expensive things as rewards for *every* contest? Maybe someone would do what Brett did and offer to stream a game of the winner's choice (Ha...), or some of our talented artists could offer to take a request for a picture, or we could employ a sort of badges system where people can put stuff in their signature, the possibilities are many.
22) Not really a nit-pick, but why is it that most of the events are either directly organised by Brett, or are challenges made specifically for him? It's a bit silly, to be fair. that really, REALLY isn't community participation. at all. You can organise your own events! Yes, I'm talking to YOU! Yeah you, sitting there at the back with a great idea we haven't come up with yet! Just post a thread, and if people in the forum like it it'll probably happen! It shouldn't be just us admins.... (Well... Brett so far)
23) Not to sound mean or anything, but a merge really isn't going to fix our problems. It'd be still the same people here doing the same thing at a different place. Okay, granted we would have more members (so at least some chance of activity) but really I don't see it fixing anything, rather it would just delay what, by then would be inevitable.
24) The last point I'm gonna make in this post is that us mods and admins need to start deleting old threads. I mean, once it's dead it's dead, right? It would make it easier to see what's new and what isn't, that's for sure... I don't know when to class something as "dead", though. I guess no activity in 2 weeks is a start...
42) If we get to this, the whole world might implode.
101) Yep. 4. Just 'cause. I'ma go to sleep now...
(Quick edit after reading Nihil's post): While I agree with what you've said there, I honestly think it was the right thing to do... the shoutbox wasn't bad... but you could easily see that as people started to use the shoutbox more and more they used the actual forums less and less... Which is expected. It's easier and somewhat quicker to use the shoutbox. I have one warning, however. From experience I know that nothing will ever get organised from a chat like that. It generally just doesn't happen. I mean, just look at what happened to the sorry excuse we called the LPA. We never got anything done, because essentially the 8 of us just talked on the chat, and talking about things and actually doing them are entirely different things...

Okay. The shoutbox is offically a dead idea, we want it, but you guys don't, for reasons we can understand. So, forget about it. and the reason why you didn't tell anybody? xD or create a thread, because you know we would've out voted you or some stupid thing. Contests are a good thing, but too many can also kill a community, Have 1 a week maybe, forced or given the chance by one of the lpers/mods/admins, that way it wouldn't be JUST brett doing all the work. Thirdly, We DO need a stream schedule, but if you're gonna force it on brett, its bloody pointless. :/ He'll end up doing everything for it, and eventually end up streaming for it. Make it at the weekend, perhaps? Less chance of people being at school/college/work whatever. Fourthly (Is that a word?) Someone whose bored *cough cough* bal *cough cough* could go around searching lpers and helping them make their threads and shit, but yeah, it should actually be the own pages. I can understand robs uh, thread being completely empty because he'll get told off by his wife. xD

Honestly, I don't expect anyone to really post on their threads much, especially Mage and Rob. This is more because of the fact that they were more pulled into the community than seeing it thinking "This is cool" and joining for the community. I understand I can't speak for them (And if I'm wrong, you 2, just let me know, eh?), but really...that's what happened :/
Maybe one of us can put down a tutorial for people? Eh, Chiral? Bal? Chaos? One of the other mods? Hell, I'll do it (And I really need to improve my original forum tutorial).
As for the other points...I'll let you guys fight about them for a bit, I'ma catch up later and then come back and post if things still haven't settled down. This is good, though! We're making progress!

What Brett just said I totally agree with, we're certainly hashing out some good ideas here and having said that I'll thorw my tow cents in now on a few things...
First off you always want a rough schedule when marathon streaming, having some wiggle room as far as just one person jumping in is good, but you need to have a bit of schedule to get it started or it tends to fizzle out prematurely, after all you have to keep that kind of thing going to keep viewers, even a "this is when people can/are willing to stream" type of schedule is better than none at all.
As far as other ideas I'm off to post a challenge in the forums mostly to challenge myself actually.. but meh. also I KNOW I need to get a bit more up on my youtube channel and get things started here, but with the new job haven't had much time to start on it, the first thing I start recording before anything else is definitely going to be my Fire Emblem playthrough and hopefully that'll bring in a few people to help give us a shot in the arm.

Hello. I have not used this forum much at all, (Actually I aint done much at all since the LPA went bye bye) I know Im not really apart of this (Although I feel I should be and I want to be) but I do have a few ideas on how Gamers Undivided may be able to "stay alive" First of all this is mostly being said to the owners/mods. Im guessing you made this for fun... And it seems that its becoming a chore to run this. If there is a shoutbox who cares if people are not using the forum as much, I know I wouldn't (Mostly because if people like the shoutbox better and want to use that more its up to them) I like the idea of a open skype chat OR a teamspeak/vent chat... It don't need to be 24/7 though. Most of all everyone should have a say (unless it is something that needs only mods to talk about) Thats just my thoughts. I have no idea if people will listen or take it in but yeah ANYWAYS BACK TO REVISION ~Gam3y

Welcome back You're part of the community, aren't you? Of course you're a part. The forum is mostly meant for LP/LP'er discussion...not idle chatter (Though you can do that in the Random area, etc etc). As for a NON-24/7 vent, etc...I wouldn't really mind, personally. It'd still be a pain, though. Yus, t'is a community, after all. Thing is...when it comes to general board construction, maintenance, activity, etc etc...it's more up to the mods and admins for the best option. Everything else is community-based. Done, and done. Welcome to the club :/

Gam3y, you have just as much right to start challenges/LPs/whatever here as everyone else. In fact, I'd bloody encourage it. It's what the forum's meant to be for, anyway...
In fact, you sort of made a challenge thing in one of your recent videos, right? I'm pretty sure it was a joke at the time... but why not make a thread about it? Honestly, why the hell not? Okay granted it wasn't very difficult but it's things like that that could actually get people to do stuff, you know, as a community...?
