I want to do 2 marathons in the relatively near future.
1) Standard 48+ hours marathon, that we've done before. More or less.
2) A tournament of some-sort.
For the tourney, I'm thinking a shooter.
Probably a free one. TF2, most likely.
Teams of 9 (One member for each class), as many possible teams as we can manage.
Each match will be streamed live, 5 matches each stream day (Probably one or 2 days a week, but would have to be the same 1 or 2 days every week), spanning over the course of a few weeks.
Live commentators for the matches (Either LP'ers, random people who are good speakers, a couple of the actual players, or possibly any Youtube celeb we can drag headfirst into this), as well as people spectating the match to act as cameras for the stream (We wouldn't stream players, unless the spectators switched to their view).
Round Robin or Ladder Elimination...I haven't decided yet.
Ladder Elimination is as follows;
The winner moves on to the next round.
ROUND 1: Team 1 vs Team 2 -- Team 3 vs Team 4 -- Team 5 vs Team 6 -- Team 7 vs Team 8
ROUND 2: Team 2 vs Team 3 -- Team 5 vs Team 8
ROUND 3: Team 2 vs Team 8
And obviously the Wildcard rounds and Redemption rounds would apply, so that every team has at least a second chance. The more teams we have, the more vastly complicated this Ladder becomes, but also allows more redemptions if you're stuck against the wrong teams constantly.
Round Robin is as follows;
The top team number plays the one below it.
ROUND 1:
1 -- 2 -- 3 -- 4
8 -- 7 -- 6 -- 5
ROUND 2:
1 -- 8 -- 2 -- 3
7 -- 6 -- 5 -- 4
ROUND 3:
1 -- 7 -- 8 -- 2
6 -- 5 -- 4 -- 3
ROUND 4:
1 -- 6 -- 7 -- 8
5 -- 4 -- 3 -- 2
ROUND 5:
1 -- 5 -- 6 -- 7
4 -- 3 -- 2 -- 8
ROUND 6:
1 -- 4 -- 5 -- 6
3 -- 2 -- 8 -- 7
ROUND 7:
1 -- 3 -- 4 -- 5
2 -- 8 -- 7 -- 6
(If there is an odd number of teams, then we add in a "Dummy" team and give them a "Bye" for that match.)
This method is more of a pain, especially when more teams get in.
But it DOES allow every team to play every other team, allowing for the most effective scoring method possible.
...But also the most annoying.
I'm still working out the kinks, but I have most of this shit figured out.
I'll post more if I get more ideas.
No idea if anyone will see this. Just throwing my ideas somewhere.
